Clooney opened up about the amusing reactions he’s received, especially from his family, after switching up his signature look.
George Clooney details how Amal reacted to his hair
While speaking with Gayle King on CBS Mornings on April 21, George Clooney revealed that his wife, Amal, found his new hair color downright hilarious. “I know it’s not good,” Clooney admitted. “You never get used to it.” The Oscar winner said he’s had gray hair for most of his adult life, so seeing himself with dark hair feels unnatural.
“She thinks it’s funny,” Clooney said with a laugh, adding that even their 7-year-old twins got a kick out of his appearance. “Honestly, nothing makes you look older than being 63 and dyeing your hair.”
Clooney made the change for his role in the Broadway adaptation of his 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck, where he plays iconic journalist Edward R. Murrow. It marks his Broadway debut, and despite his experience in front of cameras, he confessed that opening night left him feeling as “nerve-racking as you can imagine.”
“There is a huge responsibility with these words because they are Edward R. Murrow’s words,” he shared. “There’s a lot of people in that audience who know those speeches by heart… I feel a sort of enormous responsibility to the people who originally said these words, to make sure that I do it well.”
Beyond the humor surrounding George Clooney’s hair makeover, the actor also reflected on his relationship. He reiterated something he previously shared in 2022—that he and Amal Clooney have never argued. “We still haven’t,” Clooney told King. “We’re trying to find something to fight about!”
Clooney and Amal tied the knot in September 2014 in Venice, Italy, following a whirlwind romance. The couple welcomed their twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017, and they continue to share a close, unshakable bond.
