Rob McElhenney said he and Kaitlin Olson are supporting Reynolds and Lively amid their legal battle with Baldoni.
Speaking to Variety, McElhenney said, “We both are just trying to offer our support in any way that we can that doesn’t just simply add oxygen to the fire.” Lost star and Ryan Reynolds co-own the Wrexham soccer team. The FX docuseries Welcome to Wrexham highlights their business partnership and friendship.
McElhenney noted that he and Reynolds are staying connected through regular conversations. “It’s just our way of staying connected and navigating something together. And also me giving and showing as much support as I possibly can with all the other stuff that he’s got going on, that I know is so difficult and challenging,” he said.
In December 2024, Blake Lively sued Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denied the claims and filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively and Ryan Reynolds for extortion and defamation. The trial is set for March 2026.
Olson also voiced her support for Lively in an Instagram Story on December 26, 2024, writing, “@blakelively is a kind, lovely, honest and generous person (and an incredible mom.) FYI,” alongside a screenshot of The New York Times article on the lawsuit (via People). Olson told Us Weekly in September 2024 that she had only met Lively twice, stating, “I would love to hang out with them both more often… I love Ryan.”
In recent months, Reynolds and Lively have made public comments referencing the challenges of the year. Lively called 2025 an “intense year” with “the highest highs and the lowest lows.” In April, Reynolds said he was “incredibly in awe” of her strength (via People.)
